This is what is holding up my completion date- been waiting nearly two weeks for the housing asosication to give this info to solicitors
apparently it's an issue with new build homes? i spoke to my friend who said that her sewers haven't been adopted yet she was still able to move in to her house
Are houses and flats different in regard to this problem?

You should be able to get an undertaking from the builder's solicitor.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly. Forum Ambassadors are not moderators and don't read every post. Sorry to stick my oar in on your thread but on a related topic this is exactly the kind of thing HIPs help with.
A mandatory document in the HIP is the official water authority search which in part describes the ownership of the drains and whether the water authority has adopted them or not.
Situation 1: Search is ordered by solicitor at the end of the transaction, sale is delayed if there is a wait on the paperwork coming back.
Situation 2: Search is ordered when the HIP is commissioned and is ready for viewing when required by the buyers solicitor so no hold up unless the sale is made straight away.Happy to help with HIPs and EPCs0
