Barclaycard Cashback if you threaten to leave

I acted on the Barclaycard voucher tip last November, where they gave you a £50 high street voucher when you get the card and use it once. Got the vouchers, lovely jubbely
I rang up yesterday to cancel the card as I hadn't used it since last year. They went through the usual stuff when I said I wanted to cancel it (why are you leaving us etc etc). Then the lady offered me 3% cashback on all purchases for the next three months up to a maximum of £50 cashback per month....so I said fine.
I'm guessing if anyone with a Barclaycard rings up and threatens to leave they will give you this.

  • Lucky you...

I cancelled my card in October and all i got was 'Thanks for your custom'

I queried about balance trasfer etc and they just said no.

Maybe it's cos i was on one of their 'risky customer' card things.

Well done though - i am sooooo jealous, although glad cos i paid the card in full and closed it down.

I phoned Barclaycard, they offered a rate reduction to 6.9% as long as I spend at least £50 a month on my card. Since I use my Barclaycard for all my day to day spending I accepted.

If you have a specific question you need an answer to, start a new thread, give as much detail as possible and there'll loads of people popping in who will try and help. It's always more difficult to help someone when their query gets mixed up in another thread.
