thank you for your comment quakers, when l said mocassin style l meant the normal type of flat shoe design with the piece wrapped round as you said but not literally mocassins. l can assure you that l have had many shoes of this design/style and have never had wet feet. l did check my cheap shoes from shoefare and the part where the stitching was, was completely sealed from inside with plastic, a far better design than the expensive ones. ive had them ( the £10 non leather ones) nearly 2 years, been out in all weathers and never had wet feet l am happy to say.0

Hi Jen,
I work for a shoe shop and can assure you that they should'nt leak after just a few weeks. You should definately go back to the shop, and they should either give you a refund or a peplacement pair. Out of interest is it just 1 shoe that leaks or both?
The only thing I would say is, before returing them you should really try to wear them as little as possible. Do you have another pair you can use for work, or if not are you able to take something else like slippers to change into in work? The reason is you may well damage them more or really stretch them by wearing them when wet, - plus it will be un-comfortable for you!!
Is this any help? If you can't get anywhere with the shop please let me know. I have sveral friends who work in fairly senior jobs at Barretts and I am sure they could help, if I ask.
I really hope you can sort something out.

Forget the ins and outs of the situation: just take them back, explain to the manager - putting forth your points that you expect them to last and that they shouldn't succumb to a bit of rain - and see what happens. The worst they can do is say no and all this debate is irrelevant until you find out for yourself whether they exchange them or not.0

hi,
Apoligies I should have come back to update you all ...
Helen: One shoe leaks signifigantly more than the other ...
I returned them last week and they replaced them with a credit note which I used to purchase another pair of shoes. These are Kangeroo's which I hope will be more hard wearing than the last pair ... I hate to have to buy named brands just to get a decent pair of shoes but as these are brill (although I did buy some waterproofing shoe protector which I have used liberally) so maybe named brands it is
Thanks for all the help!

My 15 month old Nike Total 90's(with Air) don't leak at all, and I wear them pretty much everyday for 6 hours a day. Cost £40 though.0

I bought a pair of leather boots from Sainsbury's just before Xmas - £35, and I thought it was my imagination that my socks had a wet line down the middle!
I only wear my boots for work, and drive to and from - park in the car park right outside the front door and also drive to ASDA which is 2 mins walk away!!
I have the receipt so will be returning them..........
In contrast I have a pair of shoes I bought from Shoe Express when I was in my first year at Uni, I have worn them now and again and recently most days and weekends, and they are absolutely fine. Paid £10 for them in 1997!!!!0 -
Glad you got it sorted Jen - I would've take them back too.
My Clarkes boots (£20 sale) leak in this weather, but I've had them for well over a year now. I don't think it's got anything to do with names, some things last and some don't.0
