Kingsthorpe, Northampton - any locals?

Hi All,
We're currently looking at property in Kingsthorpe, Northampton but don't know the area too well.
We've seen a couple of places in Whitehills that we like the look of, but aren't really sure about the area.
I've heard of a few places to avoid (St Davids) but we'd be really grateful if any locals could give us the low down on where's hot and where's not.
Many thanks in advance

Kingsthorpe itself is very mixed, even within that small area. I don't really know the area West of the A508, so can't comment much, I don't think it's terrible. The local upper school is pretty hopeless, though.Hurrah, now I have more thankings than postings, cheers everyone!0

I lived there for two years from summer 97-99 as a student. A lot can change in that time but i thought the area was ok. My street had a mix of student, young professional, and old people living there which made a decent mix. That was Newington road, just off of the the road into the town. Local shops were good, there were a few takeaways, it's on the major bus route, and a 15 min walk to uni (I'd assume some areas will still be very studenty). As the above poster said the whole area is very mixed, but i wouldn't expect trouble unless it's gone majorly downhill. Try putting the postcode into upmystreet, that'll give some stats on crime, general demographs etc if you're interested in that.If this has been of any use please click on THANKS, it makes me look good.0

Anywhere with a thriving Waitrose can't be too bad!0

Kingsthorpe is generally ok - avoid nearby Semilong like the plague though.0

Most of Kingsthorpe is ok, primary schools (Whitehills & Kingsthorpe Village) are good, secondary schools are not so good. They're building a new estate near Whitehills soon. pm me for a chat if you like0

I have lived in Northampton all my life (27 years) and I agree with the others.. Kingsthope is one of the better places to live..
Avoid Spencer, eastern district, Spring Boroughs, parts of Semilong (i have been living in semilong near the racecourse for a few years now, its not to bad)
there are also some schools to avoid in different areas.. pm me if you like.0
