I think they have probably removed their glitch then as I went right through to the page that requeste credit card details and the 10% still wasn't deducted.
Ah well I am going out to the Caribean later this year (not Jamaica) I wonder if I can pick it up cheap out there?0 -
Yeah, it seems they have removed the extra 10% discount now.
Well I did tell you to grabbit!
The 36% discount still applies, though, so still a good saving for anyone who buys it from time to time.
By the way, I'd agree with the poster who recommended that people buy Blue Mountain Jamaican from reputable sources, as god knows what petrol-scented guff you could actually be fobbed off with otherwise.0 -
Royal Doulton and Blue Mountain in the same week - maybe this site is moving upmarket
Thanks to all who post constructively.
Have an A1 day!0 -
whoooooaaaaaaaa!! hold your horses here on this one if you have not already ordered. If you have ordered, check the sell by date.
mine just arrived today and has a sell by date of 5th August 05!! not 06
I ordered a boat load of the stuff to qualify for free delivery, but its all going back to Whittards on Monday morning.
I like a coffee but, trying to drink 6 big packs in less than a month!
cheers

that's because any roasted coffee beans or ground coffee has a short shelf life - in no way could it be expected to remain fresh until Aug 06!
Ground coffee deteriorates very quickly. Ideally you should grind the coffee immediately before use but if you choose to buy it ready-ground then it is best to buy it in very small quantities and use it as quickly as possible. Green coffee beans last the longest but roasted they deteriorate quickly - if you roast your own beans it is recommended that you only roast a week's worth of coffee beans at a time.
The date is handwritten on by Whittards when they package it to show you the dates you should use it by for optimum freshness of the beans/grounds. Where did you get the info that it would be ok until Aug 06?0 -
Taken from the Whittard site which explains why the date on the coffee you have bought says Aug 05:
Storing coffee
Always keep your coffee in an airtight container. Beans will stay fresh for 4 weeks, ground coffee for 2 weeks. After that the flavour and piquancy fades.
Beans stay fresh in a freezer for up to three months, and can be ground from frozen as required.
I don't think you have any cause for complaint

You can pick up these stainless steel airtight fliptop containers at lots of cheap shops, just right for a 227g bag.
My coffee goes in these as soon as the bag's opened, never sticks to sides either.0 -
mmmm im not so sure, I often buy blue mountain and get at least 6 months best before date on it.
I always put it in the fridge in stainless air tight containers but as I have a bean to cup machine without a seperate grinder then its difficult to grind and then store.
Also some of the top italian beans such as lavazza etc have 8/10 months when you buy.
anyway i will have a think about it, whittards have a good return policy!
cheers

Nah, Redfox is quite right.
Roasted coffee beans keep for about a month, although you can, of course, freeze them.
Pre-packed ground coffee (eg Blue Mountain in tins) keeps for longer.0
