Coffee connoisseurs/snobs might be interested to know that Whittard's website (https://www.whittard.co.uk) has started a promotion giving just over a third off Blue Mountain Jamaican coffee beans (ground or unground).
In addition, usually you get a 10 per cent discount for orders of 500g or more (ie 4x 125g units).
I'm not sure whether someone has made a mistake in applying this additional discount but I've just placed an order and the coffee was almost half price in the end (a discount of 46.84%).
This coffee normally retails at around £20 for 250g - almost 10 times the cost of a basic variety. This is because Blue Mountain Jamaican is generally regarded as the finest coffee in the world.
Whether you think it's worth paying that much more is irrelevant. I'm just letting the connoisseurs know this offer is out there and it's a pretty big saving if you're ordering a kilo or two.
My 2kg order cost £80.80 - in other words, just over £10 per 250g bag that normally costs double that.
Delivery on UK orders over £50 is free.
This offer is only useful for people who adore good quality coffee and are willing to pay for the best. A good analogy would be that most car buyers would not generally consider going for a Porsche unless it was half price!
Some people pay a lot for good wine; I do so for coffee as I have to follow a diabetic diet now and it's how I indulge myself instead of eating junk food. Unsugared black coffee is allowed freely, thankfully! :-)
I hope this is of use to someone.

Thanks Jon,
I would love to take advantage of this offer - but it is a bit expensive for me.
If I get a windfall in the next week I'll order enough to swim in.
Don't forget to store it in the fridge so it stays fresher longer.
Drink a mugful for me.0 -
What's it actually taste like? I enjoy drinking coffee but am no way a "connoisseur", would I notice the difference?I ♥ MSE0

Someone brought me back some from Jamaica and I thought it tasted weird, it had a hint of petrol about it (?!?) - certainly nothing to write home about - I still prefer Tesco Gold Blend. (I'm no Jilly Goulden).0
-
I am by no means an expert - but Blue Mountain is goooood!
Is it worth paying so much more? Depends on your tase buds really!
I like some expensive red wines, but I also dislike some expensive red wines!
Coffee is MORE difficult as it depends on
1) Amount used so strength
2) Water you use
3) If you use hot/cold milk low fatt/no fat/ all fat (or any milk)
4) Type of sugar!
I like coffee and have tried many types in my espresso/latte maker...
I have found a strong mix of Morrisons Columbian at £1.39 a bag tastes better to me (and others in a blind test) than lots of other makes at trebble the price!!
This won't help - but it's all down to opinion and as great man once said...
Opinion is like an !!!!!! - we all have one!0 -
I think I'll stick with Costco own brand, just under a fiver for 1.362 kilo. Probably nothing special to a true coffee freak but tastes fine to me, it's the sort of stuff you get in restaurants.
I drink my coffee with Tate & Lyle coffee syrups, also from Costco, these come in vanilla, hazelnut, Irish Cream, or caramel flavours.
Then I squirt a load of aerosol whipped cream on top and finish off by shaking kids choc Nesquik powder all over! Yum.I ♥ MSE0 -
Not sure why anyone would bother to reply to say they aren't interested in something but at least no-one has really shot me down over this yet and I've had a couple of thanks.
To those who haven't tasted this coffee before and want to know what it's like, I'd say that in a blind test you might not pick it as your immediate favourite but when you know what you're drinking and how much it has cost, it tends to sharpen the taste buds!
Blue Mountain Jamaican is a mild coffee with subtle flavours that would be ruined if it was roasted to medium or dark. It's not like, say, a French roast that has a very definite and instantly satisfying flavour.
Anyone who is curious about this coffee but doesn't want to buy it in quite as large a quantity as this offer requires for the maximum saving might wish to buy a smaller amount in a high street store. Whittard's have shops in London, Manchester and Glasgow for definite and I'd expect they have plenty more outlets throughout England, Scotland and Wales, although not in Northern Ireland as yet.
You can get a sample cup of most varieties of Whittard's coffee in many of their stores but unfortunately Blue Mountain Jamaican is excluded due to its high price. I'd recommend buying a tenner's worth to try it out.
I like my coffee black with no sugar and I think that's the best way to pick out the more subtle flavours of a premium variety but really the best way to eat or drink anything is with/without whatever you want, so if you do take 'Kilroy' and/or 'Sir Alan' in your cuppa, then go for it - just don't expect it to be quite as good as I've been trying to convince you it is. ;-)
In one respect it's similar to wine: there's nothing wrong with a cheap and cheerful bottle of £2.99 wine if you like the taste and want something affordable that you can guzzle but for a treat you might want to splash out once in a while.
If someone tried to convince me to spend 10 times what I normally do on wine, I'd probably take some talking round, but coffee's my luxury and when splashing out is almost half the normal price, I'd say grabbit while you can!0 -

hmmm, tried it before.....thought it a bit overrated, like caviar. Certainly better than coffee milkshake though, sorry the freeze dried stuff, like nescafe.Stevie Coppell's record breaking blue and white royal army - championship winners 2005-60 -
I've bought this before as a gift for someone. They thought it was fantastic.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

If you try Blue Mountain then ALWAYS do it through a big coffee company like Whittards. There are a FEW coffee producers from Jamaica (small, private brands) who try to flog their stuff off as B.Mountain, but it is not.0

Ok am willing to give this a go.
How do I get the extra 10% though. I ordered 4 bags (500g) and got to the checkout with the price including delivery of £27.10. Registered my details and went through to the payment page but still did not deduct the extra 10% off. Is there a place to enter a discount code?
please advise0
