Acute accents

Ok, which ‘bright spark’ decided to ban all acute accents on regular vowels? What’s even stranger is that the same diacritic is allowed on consonants (ć, ś, ź), and other diacritics on vowels are allowed (à, â, ã, ä, å, ā, ă). The MSE forum admin may well be happy to ban all things French, but we do actually need them to properly spell some French words used in English, e.g.

At least vowels ý, ẃ, ĺ and ŕ have remained unscathed.

... mais il y a aussi une certaine manque d'!ducation de base la-dedans, vous ne trouvez pas..?

redux

I drafted a post for a thread about Italian translation, in which I'd have said I managed to cope when a Brazilian company asked me to resubmit a query in Portuguese.

But I didn't bother when one of the quotes would have had about a quarter of the words censored. Clearly it's only been applied to acute accents, not others
