Dell Internet Ordering - Problem?

I was looking at a inspiron 1720 laptop on the dell website, said the price was £755.00 including VAT & delivery after adding bits to it!

Added order into basket and the price changed from £755.00 to £898.00 and charged for delivery? think they need to look at their pricing.

Any ideas as to what to do?

I know it doesn't help you ordering online, but ring up and order it instead, and haggle for the extra bits you want (seriously).

I see there's a £230 off certain models at the moment.

Wise advice above - but don't get too bothered unless you are in a hurry. Dell pricing is always changing to make it look like you've got a never to be repeated bargain.

Most of the time you will find the same or a better deal the following Thursday when the new deals come out.

A good place to spot Dell offers is DMX Dimension http://www.dmxdimension.com/

Make a note of the Evalue code then order via Quidco or TopCashBack for 5% back (on pre VAT price) - put a '1' in the first box and the Evalue code in the second.

edit: Quidco is still 5% cashback - but TopCashBack is only 3%
  • I rang them and when I had got a good price haggling I said I would go to Quidco to buy and they gave me an extra 5% off to order there and then.
  • Just when I though Dell was a good company to deal with, I encounter the India call centre for ordering.

Has totally put me off ever using Dell, if you cant even understand the dell advisor trying to order your system, I dont want to know what its like should you ever get any problems.

You could try speaking to them online - this is what I normally do. Available here from
    • Monday to Friday, 8am to 9pm
    • Saturday, 9am to 6pm
    • Sunday, 10am to 5pm
Or this is a call centre in Ireland but I;m not sure on the number :S sorry!

Update: There is currently a 10% discount code for Dell Inspiron 1720 Laptops!!!! The code is: VC6X4PMZH0LH9Q (for orders over £499) which can save you at least £50!!! Apply at checkout!

There are a few numbers on www.saynoto0870.com
    Search for 'Dell'
If you try one of the +353 (00353) numbers from there, do it via 1899 or similar rather than BT
