  • Hi

    :D
  • Having spent the last hour going through the major sites ie Hertz,Avis, Dollar, Budget,Enterprise I find that at the moment Hertz are offering the best prices for prepayment for the dates Im looking for in Feb, they are about £15-£20 per week cheaper than anyone else. www.hertz.co.uk .Hope this helps

When I'm hiring a car fir the USA, I always use a hire car broker (eg airline network, usrentacar, frloridacarhire etc etc) rather than going direct to the hire companies, as to date, I've always got a much better deal.

Also, if you do go direct to a US car rental company (e.g hertz.com) you won't get anywhere near the same level of car insurance that you would get with a UK car hire company (e.g hertz.co.uk).

p.s after doing a quick check, hertz were over £200 dearer than usarentacar for my upcoming trip.

good find - I'd never come across them before.

For my trip (to the Pacific coast), usrentacar came out quite a bit cheaper than fifteen02 - it just goes to show that shopping around can save you £££££'s.

I just checked out that site https://www.fifteen02.com to make sure the price wasn't cheaper than the rate I booked with Carhire 3000 for our trip to Philadelphia and the same car group/car with dollar was £100 MORE on the fifteen02 site! I think I'll stay with the booking I have heh.
I would give them a try https://www.carhire3000.com and see if you get a better price for your trip.

I also always check with carjet.com (usually for our trips to Spain) and https://www.travelsupermarket.com, https://www.airline-network.co.uk when I book car hires. I don't think we ever booked directly thru a company though (Hertz, etc.) because personally, I find it much easier to understand what's included and no hidden fee's etc. on the sites I mentioned and use.

Sure, an American website, set up to sell directly to Americans will (generally) not include insurances in the quote - it will be literally be for hiring the car only, as, generally, US personal car insurance will cover rentals as well.
Whereas, a UK based site will (generally) quote you a fee with the relevant insurances included.

However, if you go to a US site and it asks you for country of residence, (UK), then check VERY CLOSELY for exactly what is and what isn't included.

As an exersise I have just compared my rental for later in the year with this result.
I am hiring a Dollar car via USrentacar, and it is over £200 cheaper via USrentacar than hiring exactly the same car via Dollar.com direct. Interestingly enough, the same deal via dollar.co.uk is still over £80 dearer than I'm paying, plus they are a bit 'woolly' over the one way hire charge.
