Never heard the term breadcake in the North West, they are called barmcakes round these parts, a crust cob is the same, also called a dinner cob and goes really well with scouse0 -
Love all the regional names.
Where I used to live down south it was either a soft roll or a crunchy roll. Here its breadcakes, cobs or scufflers, huge triangular soft breadcakes (and my word they are lovely

Hi
I try and batch cook when I can. Our favs are:
Curry (Chicken Green/Red Thai freezes well-make about 4-6 portions at a time)
Shepherds Pie (Double Batch-takes alot of room, sometimes I just do the sauce & add mash later)
Sausage Cassarole (Double batch & make in SC)
Spag Bol Sauce (4 portions)
Chilli (4 portions)

Turkey schnitzel? Is this just turkey slices in breadcrumbs?
Would you have to cook the lasagne before freezing and just reheat?
Thanks for these ideas but I think I may need another freezer from Freecycle! :rotfl:

Yes partly. When I do mine I assembly it all to the stage that you would usually put it in the oven, but then I don't, just freeze it when it is cold.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

I attempted this for the November GC and was absolutely shattered by the end of it!
What i tend to do now is try to get things done like Spag Bol, Chilli, Sheps Pie, Stew and Sausage Casserole and freeze them in 2 man portions for Monday to Friday night when i know i'll be shattered and the temptation to get something from Supermarket or on way home or takeaway is lurking.
Then we cook 'special meals' at the weekend when we've got a bit more time and patience. I usually buy the meat for these in advance and freeze into the right size portions.
HM Cheese and Onion pasties seem to be a midweek winner at the moment. bit like a 'chippy tea' but not quite as posh (or expensive)
Hope this helpsNeeds must when the devil vomits in your kettle..........0 -

More or less. I buy the large turkey breast packs from Lidls, cut into small portions and bash out with a rolling pin (usually thinking of someone who has annoyed me that day!). I then season the breadcrumbs with lots of herbs, finely chopped garlic, pinch of cayenne pepper and salt/pepper.
Then its just dipped into flour, then beaten egg, then breadcrumbs, egg then breadcrumbs again, tray frozen and then bagged up. I then brush with a little oil and then bake in the oven to cook.
I usually serve with spiced up tomato ketchup or sweet chilli sauce (from the bottle). Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Cheerfulness4 - what are breadcakes? they sound interesting!
Yes. Pizza freezes really well. I make and top mine as normal then freeze uncooked wrapped in tinfoil. When I want to have one, I unwrap tinfoil, pop on a pizza tray, drizzle with a little olive oil and cook until the cheese is melted and it looks and smells cooked. Takes 2 or 3 minutes longer than cooking fresh only.
If you google Once a Month cooking there are lots of great sites with whole months menu plans and lots of tips. I did this a while ago and made up a little booklet of my faves, but had to reboot the computer since then so have lost all my bookmarks, otherwise I would link you to them. They are mostly american but some of the recipes look nice, with ingredients we can get.0 -

Hi floyd, How do you cook scouse? I've heard a lot about it. I've cooked stovies and they are lovely. TYIA (just leaned a few abbreviations, this is thank you in anticipation!!)0 -
