Hi,
This afternoon, I found a "Penalty Charge Notice" on the windscreen of my car. The notice has been issued by Warrington Borough Council for
01 Parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours
The car was, at the time, parked in the side street nearest to my home (which is on a main road, with no on or off street parking). There are no signs anywhere to indicate that the parking is in any way restricted, nor have there been any signs in the six months that I have been parking here.
Obviously I intend to appeal against this, as I don't see how it can be enforcable when there is no indication that the parking is restricted at all in this street.
I would apprecaite any advice on how to apeal, and also the chances of success.
Many Thanks

On the ticket should be the details of how to appeal, do this in writing, not over the phone, to keep a paper trail. Take photos of the street just in case they put up signs at a later date!0

mmm wonder if someone has stuck it there for a joke?? Does it actually refer to you or has it been removed from another car on another street?0

Have a look at these sites - the first you should use to make sure all the details on your ticket are correct and make sure the ticket corresponds directly to your vehicle:
National Parking Adjudication Service
There are some helpful sticky links to be found at the top of their forum:
Consumer Action Group
Is your parking ticket legal?
Also it would be an idea to take photos of the street so you have proof that the street is not restricted etc.0 -
Is the area you parked in part of a "Resident Parking Zone"?

Make you sure you take some photgraphic evidence of the site, and where your car was parked. This can be presented with your case, and will make a bigger impact than your words alone.
I beleive that there is a legal minimum distance for any signage to be posted in order to warn you of parking restrictions too.0
