What if you can't get on the electoral roll

Because I am an American, I can't get on it, and it does help for credit. I can't get work because I am a full time carer. It does affect my rating that I can't get on the roll, but there is nothing I can do about it.

Everyone's credit rating improves no end once registered, because your ID can be checked electronically. If you're not on the Electoral Roll, it's unlikely you'll get any credit.

For foreigners like yourself who aren't eligible to vote, best practice is to send all the credit reference agencies proof of residency and ask them to add a note to your credit file to verify these details ;)
People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.
  • Have you applied for residency status?

The best thing to do if you need a credit card is probably to apply for one whereever you bank.

As they will have a record of all the income/benefits you receive.. and will already have verified your identity when you opened your current account etc..

if your a full time career you'll be getting careers allowance etc or similar sent those detials to the main reference agencies and get them to update their records with that as proof of address, it won't work for them all but will make a difference.

Bear in mind thou, that alot of companies will turn you down because you have no income (not working etc) and not just cause you aren't on the electoral role
Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
