I want to make clips from a dvd

I had a 4d scan of my baby today and it was recorded onto dvd. I would like to make clips which I can upload to facebook etc so I can share the joy.

How do I go about doing this? When I browse the dvd I get video_ts files and ones with bup and ifo extensions if that helps?

What software would I need?

When you play the DVD, is it just one 'movie' from beginning to end - or is it broken up into several different parts already?

And in the video_ts folder, how many files are there that end in .vob?

Ok firstly rip the DVD with DVDShrink http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm then convert the file into an AVI or MPEG whatever is acceptable on farcebook with simple DIVX or Super.
