Wakefield to Edinburgh
Options
Any idea what would be the cheapest way of getting to Edinburgh during school half term week in Feb? There would just be the two of us travelling.
Could travel from Wakefield, Barnsley, Sheffield or any of those areas, but want to be in the centre of Edinburgh. I might be up for a nice cheapy holiday if I can sort out any transport.
It could be for any few days during that week as the hotel is quite flexible with bookings at the moment, but I do need to sort it out fast so I don't miss out.
Thanks all!

I sometimes travel from Wakefield to Dunbar (about twenty miles before Edinburgh) on a direct train that ends up at Edinburgh Waverley. It used to be a virgin train but the franchise has recently changed and it's called cross country now. Was just looking into going up at half term myself. With a family railcard for one adult and one child I can do this for £22 return - note you need to buy two singles rather than a return. It's a nice train journey, especially when you get north of newcastle and go along the coast and at just over 3 hours a lot quicker than driving.0
