Hi guys,
After restarting my computer (Motherboard is Asus P5K-E/WiFi-AP) I got this error for the first time:
My boot screen looked a bit different (not sure why I didn't build PC) and then got this error instead, the same but with something added:
Thanks,
Ash
After restarting my computer (Motherboard is Asus P5K-E/WiFi-AP) I got this error for the first time:
I did a quick Google search on the error and decided to "reset the CMOS" - something I'd never heard off, and didn't really understand, but it has instructions in my manual. I followed the instructions carefully and turned off PC, removed all cables, removed battery (had to remove graphics card first as battery was underneath) and then moved the jumper to 2-3 (well I think it was 2-3 as it was not labelled like that, but I removed the plsatic thing off to the right, from the 3 pins, left it for a bit then put it back.) and then put battery in and tried booting up again.USB Device Over Current Status Detected !!
System will Shut Down after 15 Seconds.

I'd really appreciate any help!CMOS Settings Wrong.
CMOS Date/Time Not Set.

System will Shut Down after 15 Seconds.
Thanks,

Why didn't you ask before meddling? You probably just needed to unplug any USB devices and reboot. Now that you have wiped all details stored in the CMOS memory, you will need to boot into the BIOS and probably select Factory Default settings to get it running again. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I did unplug all the USB devices and try! That was the first thing that came to my mind after seeing the error.
When you say I have wiped the details stored in the CMOS memory, what information does that mean I would have lost.
Thanks for your help.0 -
Also, I cannot get into BIOS.. I press DEL on keyboard as it says but I get the same error as before.. This was the same before and after removing the battery etc..0

CMOS memory stores Date, Time and details of hardware devices connected to the motherboard e.g. type and number of drives etc. You should be able to get into the BIOS even if not any further. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Oh right I see. No I press "DEL" which is the button to enter the BIOS but I eventually get the same error..
Bit stuck now!0 -
Hi Ashok

Should have asked here as well..........
No need to remove video card and battery, just locate the jumper and follow instructions in the manual. You should have asked here.
We would not have advised you to do that!!!!!
Now you may need to remove the battery again and clean off all the grease you put on it with your fingers, as it will now discharge very quickly. You should get into the bios straight away. Have you put back everything correctly, including the battery? Do all your USB devices need power, do your use an unpowered USB hub? How many USBs' in one motherboard USB socket, it will only supply 500ma, nothing really you may need a powered USB hub.
Do you have any internal USB add on card readers etc?0 -

Someone said to remove the USB header cable, tried that and it sorted it out.. It says CMOS settings wrong though still, and gives me the option to use default?
I'm assuming that's okay to do?
Also, the jumper thing which I tried.. it is actually under the graphics card, so only way to get access to it was removing it.
Finally, the grease on battery.. is that a major issue? as it didn't mention anything in guide about cleaning it after.. Bit worried now! Thanks.0 -

Yes use the default option.

Not a major issue at all.
