I wanna Tefal Actifry (I gotta one for £100!)

Has anyone seen Tefal Actifry fryers anywhere for less than £100? Costco have them in for just under £100, but I can't find them anywhere else at less than this. Think I'm pushing it slightly as they seem to be £149 at other places.

These fryers only use one tablespoon of oil to apparently fry up to a kilo of chips! Sounds good for the diet. If anyones got one, are they any good?

TIA

    omg THESE LOOK FANTASTIC!!

Ive never even seen these before, wow, wow, wow.

Now Ive been considering buying a replacement DF fryer, I got rid of the last one cos I got fat, but, there are somethings in life you need one for.

Do you think the actifry is able to do spring rolls/ samosas/ bhajias?

  • It says (in the lakeland brochure that came with the paper this morning) that hot air circulates around the food whilst the paddle disperses the oil. You will get crispy on the outside, soft on the inside chips with only 3% fat. It says it also cooks :- frozen chips, scampi, chicken drumsticks, stir fried vegetables and lots more besides - recipe book included.
Plus all except the base goes into the dishwasher and there is no oil to filter!

From that I would think you might be able to cook spring rolls etc in it.
If you want to have a look at one it may be on lakeland, but its at £149. there. I'm gonna check in a mo. Its there - http://www.lakeland.co.uk/product.aspx/!11583
I must be getting older 'cos I want one for my birthday!

hm, was it the guardian that tested them and said they were fairly rubbish? said basically the chips tasted the same as oven chips but at a far greater cost

chips, fresh - unevenly browned & chewy, frozen - no oil used, dry & overcooked. with oil, much improved.

cooked ok - frozen scampi, fresh mushrooms.

stir fry recipe from the booklet - very watery.

cooking times - fresh chips, 40mins. oven chips, 10mins longer than in a normal oven.

I adore mine. Have cooked chips (fresh ones excellent - taste like "real fried chips) sausages & onions - perfect for a butty, roast pots & parsnips- nice and fluffy inside and crispy outside. Chicken pieces are yummy as well. Chicken stir fry. Not done scampi/spring rolls so can't advice.

I've started cooking all my veg in it, just lob carrots, celery, onions and drop of oil - yummy !

Downside is the timer - it doesn't do anything other than tell you its time is up, ie first time I used it i presumed it would switch it off .... Also quite big on the side but it lives in a cupboard so I can live with that

Got mine from Costco for £99.
