I need to buy a new cooker in about two months and this one caught my eye, can you tell me if fan assisted ovens are any good because i've never had one before?

Yes I think so (I have an electric one); they tend to cook more evenly but you need to adjust temperatures downwards. I normally knock 10 degrees C off the temperature recommended for an ordinary oven.0

I've only had fan assisted ovens and I think they're great. You don't have to preheat the oven, though I usually put it on for a few mins if cooking things like buns that only have a very short cooking time (10-12mins). The oven generally holds it's heat well if the door is opened for checking foods. The temperature is even throughout the oven, so the top shelf isn't hotter than the bottom IYSWIM. You do usually have to decrease the cooking temperature by 10 to 20 degrees (oven manual will tell you), so if a recipe calls for 160C you would maybe cook at 150C.
Hope that helps:)I like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0 -
If the recipe for an ordinary electric oven recommends X amount of time at 190 degrees, I'll do it for the same amount of time at 180 degrees and keep an eye on it - sometimes I need to knock some time off as well.0

The oven is gas though
i guess the manual will tell me, so what do you think about the oven i've selected?

I've never cooked with gas so I couldn't really say. In fact I didn't know you could get fan-assisted gas ovens!0

I have a Baumatic gas oven with a fan and find that it will burn at the back of the shelves unless I turn the food round. I though a fan oven was supposed to stop this!0

I've just noticed that the width of the hob is 68cm whilst the oven is only 60cm
That don't make sense, the top being wider then the bottom.
