512 usb stick files will not delete

please help i have a 512m usb removeable stick that has had files put onto it, to include pictures and mps ,the problem starts that the files can not be opened at all and all the file envelopes are corrupt, i have tried to delete the files and then i get the message

"can not delete file could not read from the source file or disk "

does anybody have any ideas on how i can delete these files off the usb stick or is it a job for the binman

allsorted i searched around and found that scandisc sorts the problem!!!!

I have heard of this problem before, hardly inspires confidence in a solid state device if this is the sort of thing that happens. Glad you got sorted though.
