Philips VOIP 433 Duo phone available for only £19.97 here:

It's Reserve&Collect from store only, so it's pot luck as to whether there are any in stock near you. Seem to be selling these for near £100 at other online retailers, so this price is amazing IMHO.
I just picked mine up and it's great. When I went to collect, there were two sets in the shop, and when the assistant realised it was only £19.97 she said "I'm having the other one!".
Comes with a base unit which connects to the phone line and your PC via USB, and two handsets with charger cradles. Installation was a breeze, and I can say it was truly Plug & Play without even needing an installation CD. I was well impressed. Requires MSN Messenger Live 8.0 or later installed on your PC to get free internet calls. Note, this unit is NOT Skype compatible.
Features boast:
- Backlit keypad and full colour display.
- Handsfree on handset.
- Polyphonic melodies.
- Landline and Internet calls simultaneously using both handsets.
- Automatically see your contacts online.
Downsides:
- Needs PC switched on before MSN Messenger can be used, but can still be used as a standard landline with PC off. Ideal for people that have their PCs on 24/7.
- Requires 3 mains sockets to power the base unit and the two handsets.

SO do you get free calls wit hthis?
Only when all the following are satisfied:
- You are using MSN Messenger Live on your PC.
- Your PC is on with MSN Messenger running.
- The person you want to call is online as seen on your MSN Messenger contact list.
Then you can call that person as if you were doing it from the PC.

When I bought this unit, the assistant assured me it was Skype compatible. Found out it wasn't when I got it home. I never did get round to taking it back to the shop, so it sits in the box in the cupboard.0

It works well as a normal cordless phone, had one for 6 months or so. You don't need to plug it in to your computer, only if you want to use the MSN bit.0

Can you elaborate?
I personally think they are really good, especially for the money.

Hank means that unless you are communicating via MSN Messenger you can't use the phone. In short it's not compatable with Skype or any other VOIP system only voice calls via MSN Messenger on a computer.
I got mine a few months ago by mistake, and guess what...... it's sitting in the cupboard too..0
