Is it time to start paying cash for everything

I was reading the update on BBC News website on the case, and one guy, the head of the Banking Association says that if the banks lose this case they will probably start to charge customers for each transaction, so is it time to go back to the old way of just withdrawing cash in one block and paying all the bills at the post office, and saving the spare cash under the mattress?

Personally I agree to being charged if I go overdrawn etc, but when it's £35 each time, and then a further £25 at the end of the month, it's a bit much, I recently went overdrawn mid way through the month, they still paid each direct debit, but charged me £25 each time, I think I had £300 in charges in less than two weeks, got the extra money by selling some stuff, then back to normal again this week, still two weeks till payday, but at least Mrs has come into some money, just waiting on cheque clearing!! woohoo.
Thanks to all the competition posters.

  • The media are doing a good job of brainwashing people that it could signal the end of "free" banking. It is not free and has never been.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009
