Access home pc from my mobile phone?

Hi all,

As the title suggests, I would like to access my home pc, from my mobile phone, whilst I am at work.

I have done a google search and have come up with the following website
www.soonr.com

Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about the above mentioned application? Does anyone use a different or better application, either paid for or otherwise.

The only other application that seems to get a good review is
www.shapeservices.com

This website was on BBC's 'click' programme not so long ago and after a free trial period, has to be paid for.

Your thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

Cheers

Leo

    Hi.

Couple of questios to start with:

What PC are you talking about? What OS does it use?

What speed connection do you have - specifically upstream?

    What phone is it?

What kind of connectivity/usage does your tariff allow for? Or will you be using wifi?

What kind of thing are you planning on accessing?

While I'm waiting for your reply, I'll go take a look at the links you posted.

    Hmmm.

I would start with VNC Viewer For Symbian and see how that works. You should find that'll give you a secure connection too. You'll have to install a VNC server on your PC too. I work in IT and use VNC a lot. It's a good tool for remote desktop.

Soonr could be good for document access, I'm gonna try & test it now. I'll let you know haw it goes.

if you can handle linux then you can do loads of stuff over ssh

though frankly it sounds like you just need access to a maped drive.
  • I *think* this is what you need
