Q: PLanning permission on grade2 listed buildings

Anybody know whether you need to have PP for a type 3 asbestos survey on Grade2* listed buildings?

I spoke to the local council but they didnt know.

Lynz did you speak to Planning or specifically to the conservation officer? If the former, then speak to the latter. Always speak to the conservation officer as - even if PP is not required, Listed Building Consent might be.

As you probably know, LBC will be required if the proposed works (survey) are likely to affect the fabric/features that have been listed. Some surveys are invasive so there might well be an impact on the listed features.

Does the surveyor not know if LBC will be required?

I cant say too much about it tbh, but the top & bottom is that an owner of such a building is proposing to do this sort of survey within 28days. I have a feeling that they will need permission as a type 3 asbestos survey involves removing quite large section of wall ( Ive been told about the size of a shoe box)

I'll try to get hold of a conservation officer on monday ot find out.
