Where is the best Christmas Market?

Last year took advantage of Ryanair's flight to Erfurt (South west of Leipzig). Had a wonderful time. Unfortunately the route with Ryanair has now closed but you could fly to Altenburg & hire a vehicle.

Not having been to a Christmas market before I wasn't to sure of what to expect. It far surpassed my expectation. The Gluewein, Sausages & Hock's of Pork with Sourcrout were wonderful. Alotof Christmas items & craft stalls to.

Just a tip. Most stalls when they sell Gluewein add on an additional fee of around 1 - 1.5 E as a deposit for the return of the Mug. We didn't catch on until a few days after being there. This happened more so in the Evening that during the day.

In Erfurt the market is in the large Domplatz, with two ornate churches overseeing it. However we discovered small stalls throughout the town. we also found the same in Weimar, where we took a day trip to.

Closer to home, Manchester has a good market at Christmas in St Peters Square.
