Cat's bringing in mice and other creatures

my cat was confined to the house at night after he had brought home a pregnant mouse that he then disemboweled on my white lounge rug. His best pressie was a live bat that he let go in the house.0

Final straw was getting up one morning and only narrowly missing treading on a rat  although thankfully it was dead.
At least you missed that:D I was not so fortunate, was carrying a tray full of crockery so did not see the floor. Just like a Toffee Crisp. Not nice. Glad I still had my shoes on:rotfl: Sherlock is about 8 and only does this occasionally - twice a yearish. Last time it was a Blackbird. Shudder. Love em but they flap so! Got it out anyway.
Newton, on the other hand is quite particular and wouldn't dirty his paws with live food.

Thankfully we havent had anything still alive......yet but we have a different problem. Our cat knows not to bring it in, he kills and plays with it, brings it in the back garden and dumps it. Fine. However our 8 month golden retriever thinks its great fun to go out into the garden, find the dead shrew/mouse and run around with its tail hanging out her mouth. Unfortunately we have trained her to 'retrieve' very well and she is spot on with 'drop', she drops in on our laps or feet. Our cat brings the present and the dog hands it over, great teamwork but a nice nuzzle or lick would make me happier!0
