I was in a similar situation after last Christmas, with a camera that cost £110 from Tesco. The pictures were awful, and ruined my holiday as you could barely see what I had photographed!

I had thrown the box, but kept all manuals and receipt. I took it in to explain the quality of the pics was way below expectation for the type of camera, they offered me a full cash refund on the spot.

Don't give up, £40 is not a lot but if you can't use it it's a waste. It's worth a try, perhaps the flash is faulty? (probably isn't but you could tell asda that's what you suspect).

its a vivitar 5mp but seriously awful
  • Go to asda and explain with your receipt. Asda customer care is good so you may well be surprised, prob have vouchers or goods to value.
Remember tho if its not a fault they dont have to do anything so complain nicely!!

DD £25 Vivitar is a ViviCam5190. If you have the same one I will try and find some pictures to upload from her camera for you to compare.

no, but the pics are too dark so perhaps adjusting brightness etc will reveal more, but they'd still be grainy.

I'd try stating the camera isn't fit for purpose.
