i rent out my boss's private apartment for him via holiday-rentals and owners direct. the apartment is beautifully clean and as well equipped as any home - so much nicer than any package holiday accomodation i've ever had in the past.

if anyone gets ripped off its us when we have to replace patio chairs when they have been left out and stolen/broken, even though in our manual we ask they are brought back in after each use. also, my boss called in to his apartment to check the last tenants were ok there, and he could hear the air-con rattling off the wall from outside the door - and the guests weren't even in, they'd left it on to keep the place cool.
Blonde jokes are one-liners so men can remember them...;)

I've used www.vrbo.com - you can see (if the owner has enabled it) feedback from previous guests.

you could pick one you like the look of and ask them to email you some up to date pictures of the place you could be renting?
