electric typwriter type thing ???

My gran has asked me if it is possible to get something that will type and print letters, with a screen of sorts so she can see what she is writing.

I would suggest a laptop but she is 83 and is not willing to learn now how to use a computer.

Literally all she wants to do is type a letter and print it out.

Any suggestions?

  • I know you can get electric word processors, which have an LCD screen, and a built in dot matrix printer, as my grandfather has one. He did buy it a few years ago though, and it wasn't cheap. Probably get a decent 2nd hand laptop for less these days.
Have a look at this page on FREEADS.COM. Seems to be quite a few on there.

    Not very easy to get

I've had a brother typewriter with an lcd screen in my loft for a few years. I'd love to give it to my uncle who needs a typewritter - but he can't even get to grips with the much less technical one I gave him years ago

I think I'll try and stear him towards a cheapy laptop with all the settings hidden and only the wordpad icon on the desktop
