Squeaky Gas Meter
For at least 8 weeks now I have noticed that there has been a strange rhythmical squeaking in our downstairs landing. I have now narrowed this down to the gas meter in our hallway. We've even called Transco's National Gas Emergency helpline and had someone out to check the meter in case there was a leak (thankfully there isn't) but the person that came out said the most likely cause was the bellows in the meter that measure the gas had started to cause the squeaking and we should contact our supplier. We're going to contact them next week as we're in the middle of switching from Scottish Power to Southern Electric but how likely is it a meter that is otherwise perfectly safe and was only replaced last March would be swapped over? Is it likely we'll have to pay for it too

Nope you shouldnt have to pay any costs, they should just book a like for like exchange for you. just ensure that a sticker is left on the meter with the removed meter reading and the start meter reading. Also check this yourself on the day of exchange to ensure that they are correct.0
