I didn’t think the excess kicked in unless you claim for the damage to your own car.
I dont think thats right Vaio. But I 'spose all insurance policies could be different. I thought mine said something like "pay the first £xx of any claim".

An incident might even be something you weren't involved in as such.

e.g. what if you pulled out in front of somebody and didn't notice, they took action to not hit you and they kerbed their car, for example.

If your mind was on picking up a child and if you were 2 minutes late, it is possible that your mind wasn't on driving for 10 seconds and you missed it.

Just a thought, which would cover you not being aware of an accident and having no bumps on your car.

I would forward the letter to your insurance company, whether or not you want 2 make a claim its out of your hands. your car was not damaged, but you have no evidence or knowledge of what the other person is claiming for.

Take photos of the car, write as much detail as you can about the dayy in question, weather, road conditions, road markings.

Re your £295 excess, that would only come into force if you were claiming damages to your car, if a sucessful claim was made against you, you would not be liable for the amount the insurers would.

To be honest if there claiming £300 it may be you scratched there car door, or your bumper caught, or an indicator light, front headlight.

also looking at the other side of the coin, it could be a scam, by claiming such a small amount £300 (not small to us), but for the ins company drop in the ocean, they might suggest that they settle, but insist that you see copies of all documents.

The thing is you dont want it coming back to bite you in the bum- I'll give you an example, a friend of mine was a passenger in her fathers car, the father did an emergency stop as a driver pulled out of a car park across 3 lanes of traffic, into the lane my friend and her dad were in. Obviusoly the emergency stop was done to prevent an accident, my friend substained whiplash injuries, brought a claim against the other driver, how, why etc dont know, she then got told she has to sue her father as well for the emergency stop, then Sept last yr, gets letters saying action against her father dropped, then she rings this morning, its going to court the other driver has niw decided to drop the guilty plea - her father is now back in the frame.

Make sure you push to get it sorted asap x
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

As far as I can see its a no brainer.

If you honestly did nothing, write back denying any responsibility or knowledge whatsoever. No one wants to be had over

If you just think that possibly you maybe could have just caught someones car, and they have a witness, you are just going to have to let your insurers sort it out. Even if they did perjur themselves for a share of only £300 they would still get away with it:confused:

Down to honesty and the integrity of all parties concerned.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
