Just wondered how many people on here have savings in one institution over the guaranteed FSA compensation limit?
And do they feel reasonably comfortable about it in the current climate?

And Thrice Yes!!
Many times over, I'm not remotely concerned at all, would rather have a decent sum in one or two good accounts, rather than numerous accounts with the FSA limit in, and who's ever lost any money in the UK? People are far too paranoid. :j
Feel utterly comfortable and warm inside when I look at the balances and interest0 -
Currently have more than £35K in 2 building societies (Norwich & Peterborough and Nottingham). Though funds will be moving soon this will be for interest rate reasons not feelings of security.0

I am over the guaranteed amount at several institutions, I have been for years and it has never worried me at all TBH, I just do not see how the government would allow a UK bank/BS go under if it meant savers losing their cash, if that happened the mass rush by savers to withdraw their cash from other institutions would cause total chaos, panic and anarchy, IMHO it won't happen.0

Yes & No!, I am not comfortable with the money unsecured. If you had asked me this a few months ago, the answer would have been different.....0

Another "yes" vote from me.
Most sensible thing I've read in ages nilrem, and exactly my thoughts.
Stop worrying and grab the good rates! :beer:0 -
Yes and yes. The FSCS limits dont bother me one bit.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

No.
And No. Although the chance is small it does exist. If I wanted an investment with risk attached I wouldn't be putting that money in cash in the first place.0 -
Yes and unsure. I keep a close eye on things and would be tempted to move anything in excess of the £35k somewhere else if I became uncomfortable.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0
