Prepared to use nowt but ingenuity, your mobile phone or a DV camera? Ready to remake, any film of your choice in one minute? If the answer is yes to all of these questions, then you could win a trophy at this year’s Sony Ericsson Empire Awards to be held In London on March 9 2008. Think of it, mixing it up with the great and the good of the film biz. Who knows, you’re brief but beautiful movie could land you a three picture deal that very night.
What You Need To Do
To encourage your budding muse, we have put together a set of creative guidelines. Think of us as the studio executives, just encouraging you. You can chose any film you want. So how about The Godfather, Jaws, or Blade Runner? Imagine Spartacus cut down from 184 mintues to, well, one. Or more recent additions to the film canon like Transformers or Knocked Up or David Lynch’s weirdo epic Inland Empire, shrunk to a nugget sized piece. Or how about Gone In 60 Seconds in 60 seconds?

What Happens If You Win?
The best five will be shortlisted by a panel of experts (otherwise known as us) for Empire readers to vote a winner. They will pick up their award (accompanied by one guest of their choice) on the star-studded night. Films will be judged on their clarity (we should know which film it is), ingenuity (how you got round those tricky $20m special effects) and humour (come on, they can’t be that sensible!). Empire’s own attempts at recreating greatness for none of the budget and none of the running time can be found here. Use It for inspiration, or just to laugh at – the choice is yours...
