If you video'd it you would have plenty of time to eat because you could make the breaks as long as you wanted.

Now why didn't I think of that!
  • I'm recording it, I'll definately have my finger on the pause button every few mins, also rewind, just to check I'm getting it right, lol.

I watched the first bit, but thought it was like watching paint dry. I had to get kids from band, as dh has gone out, but I'd given up watching by then.

I think it's a great idea, if only it was on at a better time and contained less expensive ingredients. Oh I'd have to record it, be scared stiff of getting lost off and it ending up in the bin. We don't have a TV in the kitchen but if it had been on earlier & with ingredients which we're not so expensive, I'd have put a portable in.

  • I had to sky plus it. I had every intention of having a go. But forgot to get all the ingredients. I figured it would be easier to do 1 or 2 courses.

Think i am going to use a bag of frozen scallops that i have sitting in the freezer ( It was a good idea at the time i bought them. But no idea what to do with them !!) ooops

Well we did it and it was great fun .... :)

I did spend a couple of hours prepping beforehand, but that's all part of the fun of it :j.

The scallops cooked perfectly as did the salsa (Which I was sceptical of, as my body disagrees with raw tomatoes, but having cooked them for a few mins, seems to have done the trick)

The steak was tender and the rocket worked beautifully in harmony, peppery but light. The "chips" with our homegrown dried chillis were scrumptious.

    The mousse was delish ...

The key was definitely in the preparation ..... :)

Yum, yum in my tum :)

My diet however, yeh well ... let's just watch my weight go up in the morning :)

Vinegar spray to the rescue and cloths are soaking ....

The only thing left to do is eat the extra 2 mousses we made .... and rinse out the bain marie (as I decided to descale it, LOL!)

    lol, definitely fully clothed!!!

lil-me ... you can ask but currently tucked up in bed and receipts downstairs ....

    From recollection:

the hand-dived king scallops were £1.70 each (we had 6)
the steaks were I think £3.61 each
    the organic rocket was £1.99
    lemon I already had in
    tia maria, I bought a miniature .. £2.29
choccie .. I had in already
chilli flakes .. we grew them last year and dried them using the dehydrator :T
    salt / pepper .. got
olive oil .. got (bought in bulk in France last Summer, dirt cheap :) ).
ground nut oil ... either £1.29 or £1.99
parmesan ... already had in the freezer
    cherry tomatoes .. £1.99
    butter .. already had in
crunchies .... yes well this didn't help my diet now did it .. I needed 2 bars, but could only buy a multi-pack of 5 ... not sure how much ... pounds on my hips though !

Will update with the cost of the following tomorrow:

Desiree pots (still got loads left :) ).
    Creme Fraiche
    Double cream
    Basil
    Coriander

It certainly wasn't a budget dinner, but again, we decided that we wanted to splash out and have fun .. and we did ... and it was a darned sight cheaper than going out for an equivalent meal ....

Fret not, tomorrow I shall be back to the mealplan and making pastry .. :)
