Requested a Lower Interest Rate

in Credit cards
Having read Martins article re: Credit Card Shuffle I thought I'd approach Egg and Capital One to see if they can offer me any improvment on the rate I'm currently paying, suggesting that I may switch my balance to another lower rate card. The rates I'm getting currently are:
Capital One:16.4% for Balance Transfers and 21.252% for Cash Transfers
Egg: 19.9% for Purchases and 18.324 for Balance Transfers
Whilst I'm able to cover the payments and make small overpayments too, it still seems like a never ending challenge getting the balance down.
I've yet to hear back form them but would be interested to hear if any other MSE-ers have tried this with any luck?
