Its not all bad news, and nursing is great if you are considering working abroad in the future, one of my best mates qualified about 10 yrs ago, got a position in a ED unit, and took as much training as they would through at her, 3 years later she tripled her salary by re-locating to Dubai, where she saved enough money to buy her house outright, she then scarpered to California for a new job, and is married to a plastic surgeon..

Just out of interest, what is the take home pay for a newly qualified nurse?
I think the annual salary for a newly qualified is 19,645 (or should be after the 2.1% payrise in Nov 07 (they claimed it was 2.5% but as it was staged over the year its not really!)
On top of this you get extra for weekends and nights, Bank hols and an extra 5%, 15% or 20% of salary for in and around London.
Still not a lot for 3 years of study and huge amount of responsibility! Plus you need to pay £70 odd pounds per year for registration and really should join a union at over £100 per year.£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190 -
Thanks, but how much is that in take home pay?
Got it - it's £291 for anyone else interested...Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them.
