dont think it would work as sky plus is wired with two wires from the dish and not just one and i think you have to pay £10 as well but that might not be true if you have a full package .

No it wouldn't work as Sky+ requires a £10 p/month so you have the recording/playback function and be able to watch one programme on one channel while watching another ...etc.
The Sky dish also requires and upgrade to be able to do the above ...
If you bought te Sky+ box it'd simply operate as a normal Sky box minus all the Sky+ functions

Cool :cool:there no extra monthly charge for Sky + now, it was dropped in june/ july last year.
Still the LNB on the Sky dish requires an upgrade and a rewire to the box

Not meaning to hijack, but was querying similar myself.
We have a sky+ box and a quad LNB from an old subscription and want to sign back up to sky, in hubby's name. If we sign up to a package with the entertainment mixes (but no moves or sports) and pay for the installation of the standard sky package, ie. putting a dish up, and hubby sorts out the quad LMB, will we be able to use the sky+ box/features without having to pay an extra charge? I can't find anything on their site about paying anything extra subscription-wise for sky+, the only extras are the payment for the sky+ box.
Thanks,

If you pay a monthly subscription to sky you dont have a sky+ subscription charge, its only if you dont subscribe to sky you pay. If you instal sky+ yourself you will need to let sky know so that they can add the sky+ service to your viewing card as if you dont the recording and pausing features wont worki used to hate it when aunts and grans would come up to me at weddings pinch my cheeks and say "your next, your next". well they stoped that crap when i started to do the same to them at funerals:rotfl:0
