Sorry...only Heinz beans will do in our house, Bovril is Bovril and butter is butter...most other things I will try if cheaper, but will have to think about Lidl flour as they are now packing plain flour in 2 k bags and charging €1.19 for it...think that Dunnes or Tesco might be a bit cheaper..

And some things don't come unbranded, of course. There is only one supplier of pull-ups for boys aed 8-15, and that's Huggies. They say they are for night, but sadly mine needs them during the day too (though we're nearly there, honest). Given the choice between paying for Huggies and the state-funded rubbish, there is no choice. He has sensitive skin, the stuff we were sent was rubbish, let alone the issue of having to LIE HIM DOWN ON THE FLOOR like a baby to put them on ... And no, I don't think school would be very happy with washables ... (mind, perhaps how you might regard the wet pants we keep getting back?)Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000

Forgot about those kunekune, how could I, huge chunk of the monthly costs here is pull ups for 2. I get mine from Boots stock up using the codes and when there is a points offer on or something.
My partner would have a fit if there was no Nescafe Gold in the house. I'm trying to think what other things we buy of the expensive brands.....One day I might be more organised...........

I'll have a go at the majority of shop's own brand/value lines but completely draw the line when it comes to coffee (has to be Kenco decaff for me). I think I've been on a 'no brand challenge' ever since the days of 'Fine Fare' - anybody on here remember them :rotfl: ? I once bought a tub of FF own label dried skimmed milk that had a paper liner marked 'Marvel' - that was enough to convince me :T .
OH insists on HP brown sauce but I won't personally pay for it - if he wants it he can buy it! Same goes for his Tabasco Sauce.
I honestly don't like the big name Baked Beans and actually prefer the Asda SP ones (can't abide thick, gloopy, sweet tomato sauce). Have to admit though, that the grandkids can't be persuaded into the SP ones.0
