wav to mp3 conversion

hi everyone.

I want to convert my wav files into mp3.

I've seen a few free ones around but I have no idea of they make good quality files - I'd pay for a converter if it gave better quality sound than the free versions

any suggestions?

I have converted files in the past using the freebie programs, and cannot see (hear?) any problems.

sra555, go to http://www.dbpoweramp.com/ and download dBpowerAMP Music Converter. It's the second program on the page. It is the simplest converter around and works perfectly. It's also free for personal use. You can also get plugins from the same site for other formats like WMA and Orgvorbis should you need them.
