I understand that Pre Pay Meters are the dearest way to pay for your Elec & Gas.
But, being unemployed, it has always been the method for me, until i started watching I P T W with Martin Lewis.
Also i have never switched, can you suggest ways that i can save money.
Thanks
Ps GREAT PROGRAMME, Glad to see you have slowed down a bit.

You need to switch from pre-payment meters to credit meters, then switch to a cheaper supplier.
Using one of the comparison sites listed at the top of this forum, I've never trusted uSwitch though, they will forever be known as uScam to me.
Just by switching from pre-payment to credit meter can save you a couple of hundred pound per year if you also switch to paying monthly by DD (just remember to ensure you have the money in your bank - the money you used to put in the meter) you'll save more shopping around for your energy - a lot lot more if you are still with the 'local' provider, save more if willing to have online billing etc. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Agreed, the first thing you should do is look into getting that meter changed, some suppliers may charge for doing this or ask you to stay with them for a set period of time, ask your current supplier as they are more likely to do it for free if you have been with them a while.
I can understand the prepayment meter thing, it seems easier to budget if you are paying for it as you use it but you will save a packet going to direct debit.
Once you have got the meter changed use a comparison site to find the cheapest supplier (I wouldnt recommend Uswitch either)Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!

If you look at the top of this thread, you will see a list of sites, just use one of them and not uSwitch. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Are you wanting to get loads of spam. Your e-mail address will get harvested by spambots if you post it on forums etc. Use the comparison sites at the top of this board.
