I seem to find that many funds don't have up to date propsectus, some are at the start/middle of last year some are for 2006.Also its very hard to find an up to date view of exactly what companies/countries each fund is invested in.I understand that each fund manager doesnt want the competition to know where they have invested, also exscluding the last half year would make their performance look more attractive, but it makes it hard ascertaining where they are invested and what is effecting your funds performance without this info.
Is there any way to get more up to date info?Tristnet seems to be the best I've found so far for break downs.

Afaik UK investment companies are required by law to produce annual prospectuses and maybe even half yearly 'short' prospectuses. I've not come across any so far that don't provide at least half yearly reports.
Best thing is just to email the customer support for the investment company you're interested in and ask for a copy of the most recent prospectus.
As for where you can find them online, I know Hargreaves Lansdown have links to a 'literature library' on the 'research' page of each fund which usually links tothe latest prospectus for the fund.
ie for the Neptune Global Alpha fund, goto this page:
http://www.h-l.co.uk/fund_research/fund_research_documents/sedol/3119044.hl
then click on the 'View Reports and Accounts' button which opens the fund's (presumably) latest prospectus:
http://www.fundslibrary.co.uk/fundslibrary.dataretrieval/Documents.aspx?sedol=3119044&type=packet_fund_doc_reports_and_accounts&user=hl_web_test
By the looks of it http://www.fundslibrary.co.uk/ provide a service HL will pay for, not sure if you can register as a regular investor, looks like you have to be an advisor etc to register there for free? Didn't look into it too much.0 -

Thanks for these.I've been using these sites before and still find many funds arent up to date, their portfolios arent either. You don't even know what companies your fund manager has invested in.So its hard to compare them properly.I suppose as you have said the best way is to contact the investment company directly, to get the most up to date propsectus.0
