Heat marks on wooden furniture

We have some old Tapley teak veneered furniture which has some white marks (not sure if from heat or spillage) Not sure if to strip back and re-finish or if there is another remedy? Have tried mayonnaise (from another site, didn't work!) Any ideas gratefully received and will try out.

you can try the old trick with brown paper. it must be the proper old brown paper stuff.
lay paper on the mark and apply a hot iron. keep checking as you go.
the paper should absorb any chemicals etc...Get some gorm.0 -
I have tried this and it did work, a small drop of olive oil and some cigarette ash, rub it gently in circles and it will remove the mark. (Hope you know someone that smokes).0

Wood ash & mayonaisse is another solution that works on some woods. Apply as in vivmagb's post & heat very gently with a hairdryer while rubbing in.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Thanks for the replies. I have tried mayonnaise, then mayo with woodash, which did reduce the mark. Will try with heat next then resort to the hot iron trick (bit fearful of this!)0
