Offer accepted and buyer wants seller to take house off the market...

There is normally no re-course on either the buyer or seller if either one pulls out in England & Wales. Parties are only liable when contracts have been exchanged.
OP, if you want to put an offer forward you can. The Estate Agent is legally obliged to put the offer forward, unles they have been instructed by their client that no offers will be entertained during a set period or if they are below a certain figure.0 -
I thought offers were made "subject to contract" meaning that there is no legally binding contract, until the contracts are exchanged

my sol advised me in england and wales there is no recourse what so ever until Exchange...
However do un to others // blah blah blah..
I too accepted an offer and had a higher one.. was only 2k.. didnt take it0
