i think your friend needs to do two things
1. check the figures on the P45.....do the year to date figure include August pay or not - that will give your friend a good clue as to whether they have paid her or not. (she can use July's payslip
2. She then needs to write to the firm, sending it recorded delivery, that they have unlawfully retained her wages and that unless it is paid within 7 days, she will take legal action (costs of which they will be liable for) to recover the wages.
Hopefully this should have the desired effect2014 Target;

I agree. The next step is to complete an industrial tribunal; claim. It sounds scary but my daughter had to for holiday pay and I did for unfair dismissal. Both settled without going to court. :beer:
In this case as your friend has been their less than 12 months and she cannot apply for unfair dismissal, in any case it's timed out after 3 months, except in certain circumstances.
Hope this helps0 -
I had a (somewhat) similar problem when I wasn't kept on after a probationary period. Final pay was withheld until I returned the box my Company mobile came in!!!! I contacted an advisor through the trading standards department (can't remember who he worked for - sorry) and he advised me to invoke the Company's internal complaints procedure and that, by law, they had to look at this. Am not sure if this would still apply after 6 months, but if forced to go to a Tribunal, this may strengthen the case against the company if they have refused to do this? Anyhow, good luckI must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0
