Free Web Space

Normally I am against free web space, well for me anyway, but have a need for some now.

I need space that gives php, mysql and all the rest, but especially one that doesn't delete your space if you get no visitors in a month. No adverts would be nice too.

The web site will only be an experiment to answer a question for me and I doubt it will get any visitors.

No, there are plenty that do it without advertising, but they have other tricks to make you upgrade to their paid space.

I just need some space for a couple of months to answer a simple question.
  • I just need to know - what is the question? and if you manage to get a webspace will you let us know the site? I am extremely intrigued!!!:T

Have you tried your ISP, they usually provide webspace for their customers.

    Didn't think of that!

There is a company called bucks for banners/better than banners/money for banners, not sure now as they have changed their name so often.

They pay you a fiver per month for having 3 of their banners on your web site, one per page on 3 pages.

I started building web sites just to have these banners on. I got to 10 sites with their banners on but then they rejected all my other sites, even though I know the sites fit their terms.

All my sites are with the same provider, so all have the same IP address. I have this theory that they only allow 10 sites per IP address and so are rejecting all my others because of the IP address. I know the others fit what they want and their is no reason to reject them.

Unfortunately they are very bad at replying to emails and never answer mine.

So, if I get some free web space and build a new site, I can see if they reject that. It will have a different IP address.

If they accept it then I know they have a limit of 10 sites per IP, if they reject it they must have a limit of 10 sites per person.

So all I really want to know is are they limiting my account to 10 web sites, or are they limiting my IP address to 10 sites.
  • An right I see - To be honest that was not the question I thought that you were trying to find out! Perhaps my mind works a little strangely at this time of night but I thought that you were going to actually be asking a question on this site! I am a numpty!

Just out of interest what content does your site have?
I could imagine that having little content these people would quickly realise they are getting no visitors and pull the plug.

    FreeWebHostingTalk

Failing that someone over on the correct sub-forum on WebHostingTalk might have a box with some spare space/bandwidth/php/sql ...etc

    Hope this helps :)

I usually use http://000webhost.com, takes 5 minutes to set up a new account.

    250MB of disk space
    100GB bandwidth
    cPanel control panel
    PHP, MySql, Perl support
    Full domain hosting support
    Absolutely no advertising!

    Hope this helps.
  • x10hosting.com is a good place to get free website at. there is a non adsupported option but you cant have non ad supported AND non active account deletion... i would recommend, you install something like WAMP make sure the site works, then upload to a website wen your ready to give it to people.
