Sick to my stomach and so worried

I've spoken with my mortgage company and they said I can take a payment holiday next month no worries because I have a good track record. This will at least means I can be 100% paid up with the CCs after a messy christmas. They've also said I can switch to interest only for 5 years if I do and IVA and they are happy with that and approved it no probs. I don't want to do that forever of course but it frees up quite a chunk.
On top of this I realised I've over estimated my pony costs after speaking with the lady who shares the field with me. I've been overpaying for hay/feed and counted it twice in my budget as I looked at my last cheque I wrote for it and took the fig from that...I forgot that was for ALL of the feed not just for my horse...duh!
In addition I've also been on to the dog food company and can cut my special doggy food bill by nearly half by going to another supplier instead of the vets.
My 2nd car is up for sale and I've placed an ad this morning in the adtrader, so thats half the running costs gone, and I've also been quoted about £6K to sell some jewelry that I was left but (and I know it sounds horrid to say), don't care for much but very pleased to sell it and get the cash. I need to find out what to do with this sum lump when I speak to the CCCS later.
Oh and I'm also getting a pay rise! Not much but with this and my rebudget and interest only mortgage its giving me about £300/m extra whic I hope will help my case for an IVA as I'll be able to pay.
I'll need to do another SOA when I have all the figs confirmed to see where I'm at.
I know I'm still in the wood big style at the moment but I'm amazed what can be done in a morning!!
Posting on here is really keeping me going so thank you!! xx
What a brilliant day's work! :j Well worth selling jewellery that you don't like to help keep the pets that you love.
Anything else that you can sell, legally?
I second the suggestions about considering a lodger - perhaps somebody who only needs to sleep over Mon-Thurs nights.
Good luck with your debt-busting.

Catlover1 - I'm looking at the pony insurance now. Its with NFU. Who is your horse insured with may I ask?
Mine's with Petplan but my friend just got her's for a really good price through Shearwater
Mine is the basic plan with 3500 of vets fees per incident( the HiXs on the online quote) the standard £5000 is more expensive but I have had mine in vet college as an in patient for 8 days and that was £1500 plus the my vets call outs of about £500 so the £3500 cover per incident seems more then enough
I have No loss of use no pubilc liability (I have the through the BSJA but it comes with membership of the BHS as well I think so no point in paying twice) and loss of use have a huge impact on the premium
But you can play with the options online to see what will increase/ decrease the premium
plus mine is in the highest usage catergory as he showjumps

Hi
I just wanted to say well done for posting and you are making a good start.
I hope you are able to keep your house and your pets. I lost my last home and one of my cats when I broke up with my boyfriend three years ago. I would be devastated if I had to sell my house or give up my cat. I too am single and she is my company and keeps me sane. As stupid as it sounds I know she loves me despite the financial mess I have gotten into and she doesn't judge me as I fell many people do (not on here though). So I can completely understand how you must be feeling.
I have no idea about insurances for horse or dogs as I only have a cat but she is insured with Petplan and I am happy with them and they seem reasonable. The old vets I took her to did a healthy pet club which allowed me to pay monthly for her worming and flea treatment and her injections. It cost less than if I had paid upfront for them. It may be worth looking to see if someone in your area does that.
I only have a small house and my gas and electric are £17 a month each and water £11 a month. Are you with the cheapest supplier? your costs seem a bit high to me.
Keep reading the threads on here they are full of really useful information and tips and encouragement.
Good luck:EasterBun0 -
I've just had another thought.Just after Christmas I had a major sort out in my house when I put my Birthday (December ) and Christmas presents away. I have collected everything I really don't need and haven't used for a while together to sell. I have sold some things on ebay and made £150 and I have a shed full of things to sell at a carboot sale when it stops raining. I will do the car boot with my brother who will keep me company and pay half of the pitch as he has things to sell as well. I have been really ruthless as I would rather see the money come of my credit cards than sat in cupboards of my house. This gave me a reall wake up call as to how I have wasted money over the years. It has also left my house felling nicer. I can actually find things in draws and cupboards now and I have found clothes I forgot I had got. It also feels like a small weight lifting off my shoulders as I have paid something off my cards, all be it a small amount. It also gave me the opportunity to sort through paperwork and things it was a good exercise, it didn't cost me anything, in fact I made money and it kept me occupied for a few days. I'm not so afraid to open the bills now as I can deal with them and file them away quickly as everyhting is neat and tidy. Now my house is order I can think about me as I too would like to find a nice man to settle down with one day.Just a thoughtxx:EasterBun0

Little Miss - Its seems we have a lot in common! Thanks so much for posting.
Yup yesterday I have realised I have quite a lot of stuff thats very 'ebay-able' inc a spare saddle that I no longer use, and other bits too.
A car boot is also planned for the next dry weekend and Mum is going to do it with me.
After I get my mortgage confirmed and after I see what my pay rise will be in actual terms of what ends up in my account, I'm then on to the supplier saver sites to switch gas/electric too. Your costs sound great!
I've also had a chat with my nearest and dearest and told them I'm tightening my belt and want to get finances straight. I haven't gone into the detail or the extend of the issue but everyone is very supportive and actually saying 'yeah me too'! My girl friends have all rallied around saying they are fed up of wasting money on nights out so last night the group of us had a budget night together and saved an absolute fortune. Its good we are all doing it and I don't feel a looser for cutting back and I know it won't be an issue for me to bail out of some social events. I feel less ashamed and more honest with people now I've kind of said what my plans are.
I do totally understand about your cat too. The dogs are getting me out walking even in this awful weather so I'm not moping around and the pony is just being a darling (plus there is nothing like a canter across a field for blasting away blues!).
So - next thing is on Monday get final costs of mortgage confirmed, write up my new SOA inc my altered outgoings and payrise figure. Speak to my IP rep and also CCCS to see what they reckon as maybe they'll put me on to a different/better plan Hopefully my 2nd car will sell this week too.
If its ok I'll keep posting on this thread because everyone has been amazing. Thank you.0 -
Glad I could help
I will keep an eye on your thread to see how you are doing. We do seem to have a lot in common so feel free to PM me any time you want a chat.
I have finally been honest with my Mum about how much I owe on my credit cards, she didn't freak out which is what I thought she would do so i feel better as I tell her when I have paid some more off or saved some money somewhere and she really encourages me.
Most of my friends earn more than I do or live with their partners so only have to pay half of the bills I do. I find this really difficult as I can not afford to keep up with them anymore. I try and have more girly nights in at mine or somone elses which is nice. I also figure I like mjy house so I don't really mind spending lots of time in it. I go dancing twice a week for exercise and I am really busy at work so spending the whole weekend at home doesn't really bother me.
There are some really good money making ideas on this site so keep looking. I have just used mazumamobile to sell my old mobile and they will give me £27 for it (Samsung E900) I'm gobsmacked as I would have just left it in the kitchen draw! :j
I also am recycling my duplicate Christmas presents. I got a couple of things twice and I really like them so i thought some of mjy friends would as well. Its a great way of saving money. I make my own cards now and save a fortune. My kind friends and family donate all their old cards to me and I cut them up and resuse them.
Anyway good luck tomorrow you will be fine as you are making steps top change. just remember we can only do it one step at a time
