Rent Help- Hard time

My Oh is currently renting a property in Manchester, but is being forced out by the other 3 people in the property (cocky comments, not paying their bills, blanking, ignoring, snidy comments). Unfortuately, she has a tennancy until June which is going to cost her £1400 in rent.

She hates it that much shes happy to move back to mine but carry on paying that money!! i think its too much to lose- but she just has to move out.

Can anyone give me any tips at a very difficult time.

Ive looked on easyroom mate.com but its £30 to reply!

Has anyone got any recommendations?

has she spoken the the landlord? it's worth a go to see what they say. are they on separate or joint tennancies (if they're separate then maybe she could ask to end it early if she can find someone else they'll be fine with her leaving). if it's booked until june, is that a student rented house? if so, it's worth speaking to the accommodation office at the university as they will have plenty of experience with things like this?

yes it is a student house- well spotted!

She spoke to the landlord and he said he's not bothered if she moves out and someone else moves in- as long as he gets his money!

She also spoke to the people at her Uni and they didnt really have much advice about what she could do

she is also on a joint tennancy agreement with the other three witches!;)

    Any other advice?

If she's got a lock on her door, loud music on repeat and a night round your's?
  • Has she told the landlord they're not paying the bills?

If I was her i'd play my music loud, have noisy sex whilst they're trying to sleep and have long hot baths so there's no hot water left for them to use. Do the witches use roll on deoderants? *cough* Wee in them. I did this to a (now ex) boyfriend and had a smug, satisfied grin every morning until he moved out! :rotfl: Scratch your bum with their toothbrushes and put mayonnaise in their face creams. When you think about it, there's plenty of thier belongings i'm sure you could wee in.

Or she could just move out and pay the money, but I reckon my way's much more fun!!! :j

she could advertise the room on manchester student homes - they have a forum for university students to look for rooms. then she could find someone else for her room, and maybe also somewhere else for herself (depending on how reasonable it is for her to move in with you!). i'd also encourage her to make sure that none of the bills are in her name and to have some way of locking her bedroom.

If the Landlord's ok with her subletting, she should contact the uni accomodation office - they often know about people who're looking to move halfway through terms. Put up posters in the students' union and around campus, and put an advert on http://manchester.gumtree.com/. Good luck - it's a pain living with people you don't get on with, but I'm sure she'll find people to sublet to - I had to do this a couple of times when I was at uni and while it's a bit nerve racking you usually can find someone!

whatever she does make sure she gets her name taken off the tenancy agreement - otherwise if things go wrong in the future she will be liable - even if it is getting the landlord to sign a letter saying she has moved out and x has moved in.

My g/f advertised her place on easyroommate i think or a similar site.

Little bit sneaky but on the pictures of the room she photoshopped or similar her (new temporary) e-mail address on to it so people could reply outside of the system.
