scottish power-energy saver4 or price fall?
I am currently on the standard energy online saver account.
Should I change to the online energy saver 4 account, or the Price fall energy account.
I guess sp will increase there prices soon, so does the price fall account look the best option. It says , there prices will not increase till sept 08...
thanks

I've looked into this myself.
I'm in exactly the same situation (I'm on online saver 4) . To get an idea of the difference in the price structure I used USwitch.
I put in my postcode and filled it out with my monthly direct debits that I pay just now towards online saver BUT I typed in that I was paying the money as if I was on the pricefall tariff, then searched for a cheaper deal.
On line saver 4 came in as the best deal(beating the pricefall deal). My new annual price would be £450 a saving of £29. That works out about 6%.
So(reversing this calculation) for me the pricefall deal was
£29 more expensive than what i'm paying just now or 6%.
So If you think prices will be raised by more than 6% (a high chance in my opinion!) you will be better off switching to the pricefall deal.
Hope you stayed with me on the arithmetic!!!! Why don't you have a bash at the Uswitch site and do the same as me?
My bills are pretty low . If your bills are higher than mine it might be worth you locking into the pricefall deal. I think I'm going to.
Let me what you think/how you get on.
Interested to see if you get the same results.
Cheers

FORGET IT!!! Looks like we've just got to wait and see how much they're going to shaft us along with everyone else!!!! The deal has been pulled apparently. (I did a few more internet searches)
ScottishPower: ScottishPower withdraws PriceFall tariff
Effective date: Wednesday, January 9th 2008
ScottishPower today announced the withdrawal of its popular PriceFall product, stating that it had fulfilled its target subscription numbers. Price Fall will be missed, because the product combined an attractive price with a promise not to increase prices until November 2008.

Strange - I just rang customer services unaware of your post. I asked if they still did a Price fall and they said they did. They told me to go online and request it. I have just done it. It didn't stop me doing it. Granted it is only a request but the customer service bloke doesn't know anything about the withdrawal of the price fall!0 -
I have just also managed to swop over to the price fall online package.
Fingers crossed that i dont get a call from customer services saying its no longer available.
I feel scottish power will put there prices of gas/elec up within the next 2 weeks.0 -
I have just applied for the same tarriff as I have just come to the end of a fixed price with EDF. Same info about the tarriff being withdrawn on the Tesco comparison site...

Quidco are offering £61 cashback for dual fuel switches to Scottish Power.0 -
Think the pricefall product was removed from all the price comparison/switching sites but still available if you go direct to the suppliers website...0

Just signed on to my account and it says I am on Price Fall... so my request looks to have gone through okay. Maybe the post above is correct. Existing customers can have Price Fall... new ones can't possibly.0

If you are an existing Scottish Power customer, it is worth checking the figures yourself.
Using my own figures, On-line Energy 4 remains 18% cheaper than the next cheapest tariff from Scottish Power using EnergyHelpline.
Obviously these figures can and probably will change but worth bearing in mind that one person 6% is someone else's 18% !
I think I will wait until Martin's gives the "Time to Switch" and then review the prices again.
Thanks

Im wondering if i should do this
Im on the online enery saver 4 paying on the leccy 11.264 (pri) and 5.982 (sec)
and gas 3.010 (pri) & 2.287 (sec)
the price fall according to the pdf thing on the site is leccy pri=11.927 & sec=6.902
gas pri=3.260 sec=2.299
so to me being no expert, there is hardly a difference in price,,but could amount to a good saving once the prices go up
dunno what to do hmmmmmmDony worry,be happy...0 -
After reading Martin's news e-mail yesterday, I looked at Price Fall's tariff and found I could save nearly £200 against my increased prices from Npower. I phoned up to check it was still available and was signed up to it, no mention of it being withdrawn.
By the way, doesn't Martin say that the Price Fall tariff doesn't appear on energy price comparison websites, so the fact that it doesn't show as cheapest may not be relevant.
Prices on it were even cheaper than some of the 'good' prices quoted by companies who haven't raised prices yet, so it seemed like a good deal.0
