in Credit cards
i bought an engagement ring for my girlfriend on 31 oct, it was from an ebay seller though the transaction was done outwith ebay, i paid the seller £750 through paypal funded from my capital one platinum credit card.
last sat 12th jan she lost it, we reckon it was at my house but we have hunted everywhere and nothing has turned up.
so will i be able to claim from my credit card, is this sort of thing covered even though it was paid for through paypal.
failing that i suppose she might be able to claim her home insurance, i dont think i can claim my home insurance as the ring was given to her, even though she lost it at my house, she is not on my home policy either.
also just realised i never got a reciept for the ring, i got a photocopied certificate showing a valuation of 3 diamonds the seller got done all together and the our ring is meant to be worth £3000 lol. We did get a bargain though and the ring was gorgeous.
now whats the best way to claim for this ?

Your CC probably won't cover you unless your CC has specific insurance for lost items - which I haven't heard of in a long time.
The "insurance" that CCs do have covers non-dispatch or delivery of items where the value of the item is >£100 (actually - it's a requirement in law) ... since you received your item - it won't be covered under that.
I'd suggest she claim on her home insurance - but without the receipt and only a photocopy of the certificate - they might have a bit of a problem with that. I suggest you ring and ask.

Th ring loss would only be covered if your credit had extra purchase insurance as a benefit. Not many cards have this an then it is usually only valid for 90 days after purchase.0
