Hi skintandsad, I wasn't having a go and I understand your rationale for having the picture. I think the fact that it's just her eye, which is so recognisable, and nothing else - for instance if it was the whole picture of her with the 'Find Maddy' type text, then I wouldn't find that so disturbing. I think it's the fact that it's just a part of her face, with no real explanation as to the point of it being used as your avatar that made me feel a bit uneasy about its use, that's all. In response to benf90, yes, it has had the desired effect (I don't think that she is diminishing from peoples' minds though) but only with some explanation from skintandsad - far better to demonstrate from the outset that the intention is well-placed rather than it being misconstrued as, for want of a better word, a bit sick?0

Hi Copperplate, thanks for coming back to me about your reasoning.
I don't want this to turn into a "find Maddy" thread - however, I feel I need to at least give you some feedback.
The picture chosen is one of the officially released campaign pictures; my reason for choosing it is simple; it is the most hard hitting and easiest to remember. As children grow their appearances can change - lots of people may well have seen a child they think looks a bit like Maddy and taken a second look. This picture, in my opinion, gives a more real identification of the missing child. Like a birthmark or tattoo - her eye is distinguishing.
The reason I didn't add any text to the avatar is that I wouldn't know how to - my grasp of technology is somewhat limp!I can type and upload pictures - but thats about the extent of it!
If anyone could tell me how to do this - I would happily add text to this picture.I'm a nutter :j0 -
Hi Skintandsad, I saw the program and was also intrigued as I have successfully claimed back £££SS in unfair charges and the thought of having 75% of my credit card debts canceled is rather interesting!! I've looked at the website in question: www.creditcardkiller.couk and as other readers have commented it a doesn't exactly fill you with confidence to use them. If what they claim is true, then they should be confident enough to work for their clients on a no win no fee basis.
I have come across something interesting on The Financial Ombudsman web site and here is a link: http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/publications/ombudsman-news/50/banking-contracts.htm
I guess this is what they have picked up on. 'Unfairly bonding contract terms'
There may be something in it!! If it is true that you can realistically make a claim against the credit card companies for unfair contracts, then the flood gates will truly be opened for claims against the banks and all credit to : www.creditcardkiller.co.uk I wonder what 'Martin' thinks about it?0 -

They were on Panorama tonight - not sure when the original was broadcast (edit: last Monday, 10th Nov according to bbc website] as it was on BBC news24, but they claimed that they had £100k of credit card debt written off but then later on in the program the voiceover said that they had 100k debt due to legal fees as they had tried to set a legal precedent and failed to do so. Didn't go into much more detail than that but the bbc panorama website says: "
After studying the Consumer Credit Act, Basil and Amanda Rankine looked for a number of potential slips in their credit agreements. These included checking that the correct APR was included, that the forms had actually been signed and that the lenders had kept a copy of the paperwork. (I realise this is an old thread but I searched for creditcardkiller and this is the only thread which came up.)"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

Are there any other useful websites etc etc. I have looked at the creditcardkiller website with interest until I was presented with their fees! One thing that strikes me as strange is their request to pay fees up front... How do they expect cash strapped 'customers' to pay? Do they just add to their existing credit card debt and get that written off also?
All sounds too good to be true, however, being a typical Brit I would like to know if anyone else has got one over the credit card firms and if so how it was achieved!0
