Hi, newbie here
I hope someone can help. My boyfriend bought this laptop for my christmas

The problem is Im not very technically minded, Ok, Im clueless. I dont know how to get online!! I have no idea where to even start. I asked people in work and they were talking about routers, eh WHAT :eek: ???!! Tried to go online last night and it said it needed a password or something!! I need a step-by-step guide. I already have a PC at home.

OK, do you have broadband at home? If so is you other PC connected to it? Who is your ISP and are you suing ADSL or cable? Note that you can only be on cable if you are a Virgin (previously Telewest or NTL) customer.
Once we know that we can help. BTW your laptop is capable of both wired and wireless connectivity but I suspect for either you will need a router.It's my problem, it's my problem

OK so do you have an existing PC connected to the broadband? If so is the only thing it connects to the box form Virgin and are you on Cable or ADSL? That bit is critical.It's my problem, it's my problem

adsl is the alternative to Virgin Media cable, via a BT line. So you need a wireless cable/dsl router.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
