Car Accident

Yesterday I was involved in a car accident which was not my fault and the other driver accepted resposibility at the scene as she ran in to the back of me whilst I was stationary at a roundabout.
I have been in touch was my car insurance and they are dealing with having my car fixed as there is quite a lot of damage.
I have sustained 'whiplash' which was diagnosed at A&E last night, I am still in pain but I believe this is normal and will last for at the very least a few days. After speaking to friends they have suggested I should be entitled to compensation is this true and if so how do I go about claiming and when do I put in a claim? I do not have legal cover through my car insurance unfortunately.

Ahhh, the Claims Direct mentality, one of the cancers that is slowly killing this country.

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -

You don't to have suffered a financial loss to be entitled to compensation. You are also entitled to compensation for any pain suffered.0 -
Hello fec,
Please ignore the unfriendly replies.
If you have been hurt through someone else's negligence then you are entitled to compensation.
You will need to get a "no win no fee" solicitor to take on your case.
Make sure they aren't going to charge you a fee or take it out of your compensation (they should get their costs from the insurers of the other driver).
So I would advise you read any contract carefully and don't sign up with someone you aren't happy with.
Sometimes it can take many years for the full effects of the accident to appear.
Hopefully you will only sufffer a few days of discomfort but it's likely to take many months or years to get your compensation which will allow time for the full extent of your injuries to be revealed.0 -
Whiplash can be a very painful and recovery can take a long time. You may wish to contact your insurers and ask them if they can provide legal services to assist with claim for personal injury.
I hope you recover soon and get the compensation you deserve."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

It would be worthwhile to record everything relating to the injury. When the pain first became noticeable. Any visits to the doctors. Any medication taken. Any day to day changes with the pain.0
